You know what they say, “April showers bring May flowers!” and Cempa Community Care was showered with so many great opportunities this past month!

Our CEO, Shannon Stephenson, and PrEP Navigator, Mario Forte, represented Cempa at SYNChronicity in Washington D.C. Cempa also launched Afternoon Delights, a brunch + bubbles event for women of color to come together and talk about sexual health, and another successful Community Workout Jam Session in partnership with Hospice of Chattanooga!

As we move into the month ahead, we’re excited to update you on our LatinX Outreach Initiative and also remind you to save the date for our annual Dining Out For Life event!

Check out #CempaChampions Mario & Shannon at this year’s SYNChronicity Conference, The National Conference on HIV, HCV, STDs, & LGBT Health, in Washington DC! Thank you for all the work you are doing to share Cempa’s message!

On April 27th, Cempa launched its Afternoon Delights event! This Brunch + Bubbles event saw many women of color coming together as mothers, daughters, sisters, and friends to talk about their sexual health in a safe and supportive environment! There were many laughs, smiles, and important discussions taking place! Thank you to everyone who participated!

Cempa teamed up with Hospice of Chattanooga for our second Community Workout Jam Session and it was SO MUCH FUN. Make sure to attend our third event happening on May 13th! For more info on the event, click here!

The LatinX Outreach Initiative has moved into the second phase of development which has a focus of on-boarding community partners willing to support Cempa’s mission, and facilitate accessibility and acceptability of the local LatinX community. As of April, the LatinX Outreach Initiative has launched an official committee composed of 6 highly influential individuals in the LatinX community. These committee members are committed to supporting the mission of Cempa and assist in the development and implementation of LatinX Outreach programs. In addition, the LOI has recruited strategic community partners that have committed to join #TeamCempa in being #ChampionsForYourCause. Some of Cempa’s LOI community partners are: Latin American Student Organization (LASO) at Chatt. State, New Comers Program at Howard High School, Chattanooga Football Club, Operation Get Active, Carniceria La Loa, and Kristina’s Fine Art Studio. The LOI is very excited to welcome these partners and looks forward to collaborating in making a lasting impact on our LatinX community.
